We have adopted an inclusive approach to learning activities, which includes providing learning on the job, coaching and mentoring, and formal learning interventions.

On the job learning

You’ll learn much of what you need to know by working with knowledgeable colleagues and receiving regular coaching and feedback. You’ll have a wide variety of experiences to enable you to develop skills relevant to your job, and provide you with an overview of how the AEMC works. We also encourage our people to further their careers through secondments.

Developing professional skills

Specific programs can help you build expertise and knowledge in your chosen area. There are both internal and external programs available. In some cases you can also study for professional qualifications. The AEMC also supports membership of professional associations where relevant to your role.

Performance reviews

Our performance review framework offers regular, structured feedback so you know exactly how you’re progressing. We’re committed to the development of our people and we continually strive to improve our extensive training and development programs.

Variety and mobility

The AEMC’s policy teams are organised around three key facets of Australia’s energy industry: Transmission and Distribution Networks, Market Development, and Retail and Wholesale Markets. As an Adviser or Senior Adviser at the AEMC, you’ll have the opportunity to move across these teams, and gain a breadth of knowledge and experience in all our areas of operation. Through our consultative and cooperative culture, everyone at the AEMC regularly comes into contact with diverse and dynamic subject matter.
